Town offers to split asbestos costs with dog park group

The town offers to pay half the asbestos abatement of the French Hill site. The ball is in our court now...do we pay half the abatement and the fencing costs for 1.5 acres and the town gets the other 150 acres??? Click here for the full article.

Almost every member said something specifically about the park taking too long, that it will happen soon, that we've worked hard. Four months later and it still hasn't happened! Want to know why? Meetings are generally the last Tuesday of every month at 7:30 PM at Grace Lutheran church on Gomer street. There is a lot to do...get involved!

October 14, 2008 Town Work Session
The Town Board approved a wonderful open area of the French Hill section of Trump State Park. The Board is drafting a lease agreement for NYS and upon its signing we can start building our park!
October 8 Parks and Recreation site visit at Trump state park, French Hill. About 10 of our committee members walked the site with Jen Fava (Parks and Recreation Superintendent), John Tegeder (Director of Planning) and Diana Quast (Parks and Recreation commissioner). We discussed potential sites within the park and some of the considerations such as parking, tree maintenance, accessibility, road noise, etc. It was a productive meeting and we are looking forward to the October 14 work session where our members, the Board, and the Commission can discuss the details further.
September 2, 2008 Yorktown Town Board Meeting
Thank you to everyone who attended the meeting. The Parks and Recreation Commission did not make a recommendation! Supervisor Peters invited us to join the Board on September 6 for a site visit of the 3 sites being considered. Meet at 9:30 am at Downing Park to participate.

Thank you to everyone who attended to show support. Extra thanks to the site subcommittee for presenting our proposed site to the Commission. Next, we will do a site visit with the Commission to gain their approval of the site.
Thank you to everyone who visited us at the SPCA Wags & Whiskers Walk-A-Thon and Pet Fair. It was a great opportunity to meet our supporters and raise money for the Dog Park!
